'PABLO PICASSO' PAINTING DAY follows a successful 'Lucian Freud' and 'Matisse' Painting Days

The next event on the 24 March 2012 will focus on the paintings of Pablo Picasso, related to the exhibition on the Tate Britain. We will begin the day with a critical debate and review of this famous 20th century Spanish Artist, a towering genius who changed the face of modern art. The day will begin with a slide talk given by Andy and Tom. As always, these talks will give you the inspiration to capture your imagination.

'HENRI MATISSE' PAINTING DAY

(14 January 2012)

The event featured the work of one of the greatest figurative painters of the 20th Century, Henri Matisse. The day began with a slide talk given by Andy and Tom. Matisse’s works can be seen in situ at Tate Modern and the Courtauld Galleries, London and presently highlighted in the vast collection of Gertrude Stein at the Grande Palais in Paris.



'LEONARDO DA VINCI' PAINTING DAY

(19 November 2011)

Relating to the once in a lifetime exhibition at the National Gallery (9 November to 5 February) Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan, we focused on Leonardo’s innovations in chiaroscuro (tone, lights and darks) and suggested the use of a limited tonal palette of black, white, yellow ochre and phthalo blue/prussian blue.  The day began as normal with an introductory slide talk from both Tom and Andy.

'LUCIAN FREUD' PAINTING DAY
(4 February 2012)

The event focused on the paintings of Lucian Freud, related to the exhibition on the National Portrait Gallery. The day began with a critical debate and review of this famous 20th century British Artist.


'DEGAS' PAINTING DAY
(24 September 2011)

Tutors: Tom Davies & Andy Pankhurst

A unique opportunity to experience and paint from the Degas ballet genre. Models enacted a ballet scenario of the type drawn and painted by Degas. The costumes were professionally designed and made by a fashion designer. A talk on Degas drawings and paintings preceded the painting day.
